Barock Pinto Stallion | Proven Bloodlines | Modern Sport Horse
Mark BP 111 (formerly Markos) represents the powerful fusion of two historically significant and performance-proven bloodlines: the legendary Barock Pinto sire line of Bontfire XX06 Preferent and an elite Friesian dam line bred intentionally for modern sport.
On the sire’s side, Markos descends from Bontfire XX06 Preferent, the last living son of the iconic KWPN-approved pinto stallion Samber—the first pinto ever licensed by the KWPN and a foundational influence in the global recognition of colored sport horses. Samber competed successfully to Grand Prix in dressage and Z-level (Grade A) show jumping, earning a perfect 10 for temperament during his KWPN 100-day test and an exceptional overall score of 160.2 points. Renowned for his “golden” character, Samber became a cornerstone sire whose influence is still present in nearly every modern sport horse of color.
Bontfire XX06 Preferent has carried this legacy forward with remarkable consistency. His offspring are internationally recognized for their large, correct frames, expressive movement, strong work ethic, kind temperament, and reliable pinto coloring. His genetic impact continues to expand through licensed sons and grandsons worldwide, including record-setting stallions such as Ivano BP65, the highest-scoring Barock Pinto Studbook stallion of all time.
Markos’ dam, Yardley SHF, is a KFPS Friesian mare bred in-house, making Markos a third-generation homebred stallion—a testament to thoughtful, long-term breeding goals rather than chance. Yardley is by the exceptional Friesian sport stallion Tjalbert 460, a sire widely respected for producing modern, athletic dressage horses with both power and rideability.
Yardley herself was purpose-bred for sport and proved her quality under saddle, completing her IBOP ridden test at the Barock Pinto inspection hosted in the fall. She achieved the highest IBOP score ever recorded in the United States, earning an outstanding 75.5%, a milestone that underscores the strength of her training, temperament, and functional movement.
Tjalbert 460’s influence further elevates this dam line. He has earned top placings at major championships in the Netherlands, including a win at the Friesian Indoor Dressage Championships, and in 2022 claimed the prestigious “Get of Sire” title at Dressage at Devon, competing against all breeds. His offspring regularly achieve dressage scores into the high 70s, earn Star mare status, and dominate keurings and breed championships. His son Don Klasse van de Terpen was selected for the 2014 KFPS Stallion Show and later competed successfully at Prix St. Georges, representing Friesian dressage horses at the 2019 European Championships.
With proven performance, elite temperament, and a pedigree rooted in both historical significance and modern sport demands, Markos (Mark BP 111) stands as a stallion designed for breeders seeking rideability, athleticism, correct conformation, and lasting genetic influence.
